There is no more important act than the worship we render to God in the Sacred Liturgy.
In additon to our weekly schedule of Mass, Confession, Adoration and the recitation of the Rosary, throughout the liturgical year we have other special events planned in celebration of certain feast days and other devotions. These include celebrations of Mass according to the ancient usage of the Roman Rite commonly known as the Traditional Latin Mass, as well as processions and Vespers (evening prayer from the Divine Office).
Be sure to check this website and our bulletin to know when these special events are scheduled.
Some of these special events include:
27th June - the Feast of Our Mother of Perpetual Help
Each year we have a Solemn bi-lingual Mass in the Chapel of Our Mother of Perpetual Help followed by the Rosary. Our Lady under this title, is the patroness of iur church which is a pilgrimage shrine dedicated in her honor.
1st November - All Saints Day
After Mass on All Saints Day we process each year to the Chapel of Relics for a sung litany of saints. This celebration is all the more special as this chapel holds the relics of over 150 saints including the entire major relic of Saint Datian.
First Saturdays
Of particualr note are our First Saturday devotions offered in fulfillment of Our Lady's request at Fatima. On the First Saturday of five consecutive months each year, we celebrate a Solemn Mass according to the ancient usage of the Roman Rite at 12 noon followed by the Rosary and other Fatima devotions.
The Ancient Usage of the Roman Rite (Latin Mass)
In keeping with our parish's emphasis on offering to God our best in the Sacred Liturgy, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is offered on occassion according to the ancient usage of the Roman Rite with the gracious permission of our local archbishop.
Why do so many enjoy this Mass offered with the 1962 editon of the Roman Missal? Here are some reasons:
Many find it particularly beautiful and reverent.
Many enjoy the Gregorian Chant and the sublimity of the Sung Mass.
Some prefer the quiet and prayerful Low Mass.
Some feel this form of the Mass is more conducive to prayer.
This form of the Mass has been offered by so many generations of our ancestors in the Faith from the time of Pope Saint Gregory the Great in the 6th century.
These are just a few of the reasons why people of all ages have come to enjoy this beautiful Mass. At Most Holy Redeemer - Nativity, we are blessed to have the opportunity to offer this Mass upon occasion. We invite all to come and pray this Mass with us.
